Our Story

Tenterden House Interiors is a family run furnishing business, which started out in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire in 1826, named E. Dodimead. Our original delivery van is pictured above. After a long innings this successful business was sold, but after a small break Robert Willson decided to return to his former passion, after stumbling across a potential site in the picturesque town of Tenterden, Kent, which is where we are now located and have been since 1984. Robert Willson has long since retired, however, his wife Ingrid Willson and their son Jamie Willson still run the shop today. 2016 marked the opening of our new shop, Manor Row Interiors, also in Tenterden.

Our shops front Tenterden’s much loved high street and boast well over 8,000 sq. ft of display, showcasing an eclectic mix of traditional hand-made English furniture, contemporary furniture, upholstery, lighting, gifts and furnishing accessories in all price ranges. Our business prides itself not only on the quality of its products, but also on the care and attention with which we provide our customers.

In March 2026 Ingrid Willson starts her well-earned retirement, after 42 years in Tenterden. Therefore, we will evolve once again and amalgamate both our businesses into one premises. This allows us to retain our small team, namely Jamie, Amy & Rosemary, whilst continuing to offer the same service.

Our sincere apologies, but we do not sell online. This just isn’t something that we are comfortable doing as we wouldn’t be able to offer the same level of service, flexibility and support as we do in the flesh. However, most things can be arranged by email or over the phone.
